Our soccer coaches are highly experienced and passionate about the sport. They have a deep understanding of the game and are dedicated to developing each player's skills and abilities. With a focus on teamwork, discipline, and a positive mindset, our coaches create a supportive environment that enables players to reach their full potential.

Illia Song - Coaching Director

Coaching Director Illia Song has been coaching soccer for 25+ years and is regarded as one of the best trainers in the San Francisco Bay Area. He has run boys and girls programs ranging from U8 – U23, coaching at top area clubs: Bay Oaks SC, Marin FC, Burlingame Soccer Club, Peninsula Soccer Club, Juventus Sport Club and San Francisco Vikings Soccer Club. He also has two children who played varsity soccer for four years at University High School in San Francisco. His son was recruited by and played four years at Yale University and his daughter was recruited by and captained her team at Swarthmore College. Coaching Director Illia Song formed the first SF Aftershocks FC team in 1996. 

Fabian López - Coach

Coach Fabián López is from Colombia.  He holds a BA in Government and International Relations. He has worked in development, anti-corruption efforts, and as a social sciences, economics, and politics teacher for high school students. He played soccer at a semi-professional level for a second-division team in his hometown—until university took over, and he decided to step away from the ball for a while.  In addition to coaching at SF Aftershocks Fabian runs a scouting and recruitment platform called CyBears Tribe, where he trains, scouts, and represents soccer talent. Life is like soccer—it’s an adventure full of magic, challenges, and learning.

Kenny Soriano - Coach

Kenny began coaching in 2021 and has since dedicated himself to developing young athletes both on and off the field. With experience playing NCAA Division II college soccer, he brings a high level of understanding of the game and a passion for sharing his knowledge with the next generation. He believes in creating a positive learning environment where athletes can grow in confidence and ability while developing a deep love for the game. His goal is to inspire young players to reach their full potential, both in soccer and in life.

Onome - Coach

Coach Onome (Nome) has been coaching soccer for three years and is dedicated to developing young players through a player-centered coaching style. Originally from Nigeria, Nome began playing soccer at the age of 8, sparking a lifelong passion for the game. He holds a U.S. Soccer National D License and focuses on fostering technical skills, tactical understanding, and

confidence in his players. Onome emphasizes decision-making on the field, allowing players the freedom to analyze situations, adapt, and take ownership of their choices. His coaching philosophy is rooted in keeping the game fun, engaging, and dynamic while ensuring that every player remains active and challenged.

Patrick Balderramos - Coach

Patrick is a San Francisco native with a lifelong passion for soccer.  He played at high levels, including with Chivas Glens and the 92' Boys California State Team, winning multiple tournaments and three state championships.

At Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory, he played four years of varsity soccer, earning first-team all-league honors in the WCAL for two consecutive years. After high school, he trained at R.I.A.S.A, a soccer academy in Leeds, England, gaining experience at the semi-professional level. He later played collegiately at City College of San Franciscoand Notre Dame De Namur University.  Patrick’s goal is to help young players build confidence, coordination, and technical skills while fostering a love for the game. He understands the dedication and patience required to develop exceptional soccer players and believes in continuous learning. His coaching philosophy is centered on unlocking each player’s potential and instilling a hunger for success, with a firm belief that "confidence is key."  He holds a diploma from Maguire Coaches Academy and a US National F License.
